State of the Art

Small Firms, Great Projects a publication of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in San Francisco has featured Nikolas’s work in the State of the Art section of their19th Edition, released in September, 2024.

Editor Lisa Boquiren contacted the Studio earlier this year hoping to include an installation and we were only too happy to share images with her of our most recent residential installation located in Portola Valley, CA.

The installation is “plugged in” to a linear channel along the top of the wall of the home’s entry and extends across the ceiling, taking on a more natural form. Many of Nikolas’s installations relate to this theme: connecting an interior’s orthogonal architectural elements (either physically or conceptually) to sculptural forms evocative of water or smoke. View the project.

Stay tuned for a forthcoming post about AIA San Francisco’s new space in the historic Hallidie Building entrance that features an installation by Nikolas Weinstein. You can subscribe to receive occasional updates below.
