The Process
From concept to installation, our interdisciplinary team handles every aspect of the project to create custom glass sculptures that are thoughtfully integrated with their architectural environments.
We engage with the design process early to create installations that are "woven" into the spaces they inhabit. By understanding the unique characteristics of each architectural environment, we envision artworks that interact with their surroundings and meaningfully integrate with the building's architecture, structure, and lighting. This early collaboration with project teams leads to a unified vision of art and architecture. From concept development through engineering, fabrication, and installation, we provide a comprehensive, turnkey solution, handling every aspect of the project to deliver site-specific installations that enhance and transform spaces.
Concept
Weinstein identifies the essential qualities of each architectural space and establishes the look and feel of the installation as a dialogue with these distinctive characteristics. Through hands-on paper modeling, he explores forms that bring a sense of movement to the space.
Holistic Approach
Approaching each project from multiple directions simultaneously, the studio integrates design, engineering, and fabrication from the outset. This holistic method, all conducted under one roof, allows us to realize solutions that are not possible when aspects are siloed, resulting in innovative installations that balance artistic vision with fabrication methodology.
Turnkey Solution
The studio provides a comprehensive solution that covers every stage of a project under a single fee. By overseeing the entire process from conceptual development to on-site installation, we simplify the experience for our clients while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship.
Engineering
With over twenty-seven years of experience, the Studio has built some of the most ambitious glass installations in complex environments from San Francisco to Tokyo. We have developed a longstanding relationship with Arup, the premier engineering firm, to ensure that our artistic visions are realized with technical precision.
Innovation
Weinstein is driven by what he imagines, rather than what he knows how to build. This approach has fostered a deep commitment to innovation in the Studio, developing entirely new ways of sculpting glass through experimentation that redefines what's possible.
Team
The NWS team is a diverse group of creatives who thrive on the challenges and problem-solving required to realize Weinstein's vision. With backgrounds ranging from industrial design and music production to aerospace engineering, they bring varied expertise to each project. This interdisciplinary approach enables the Studio to tackle complex problems and develop innovative solutions that wouldn't be possible with a traditional team structure.
